Training visually impaired persons as Hope Ambassadors to make caring calls to the elderly
In view of the increasing mental health issues among elderly under the pandemic and consistent low employment rate for people with disabilities, the venture targets to train 10 to 15 visually impaired persons (VIs) to provide emotional support to elderly through caring calls.
The VIs will be trained and equipped with listening and basic counselling skills. Upon completion of training, they will become Hope Ambassadors and make a total of 7 200 caring calls to 1 800 elderly people. The trained VIs will receive subsidies.
Cases which require further counselling services will be referred to qualified counsellors on a need basis.
