Providing language support and organising multicultural activities to enhance Chinese language proficiency and cultural intelligence of non-Chinese primary schools students
The venture aims to enhance Chinese language proficiency and cultural intelligence of non-Chinese (NC) primary school students through one-on-one intensive Chinese language support and a series of multicultural activities. Sixty NC primary school students from two schools in two districts with a greater number of NC students will benefit. Through participating in the programme, 120 university students will be trained in teaching Chinese as a second language and grow in cultural intelligence. Another eight underprivileged NC youths will be employed and trained as Cultural Champions to help organise multicultural programmes. The venture will collaborate with universities to provide these NC youths with training (e.g. design thinking and social innovation) and the soft skills required for work.
