Home-based training games enabling children with special educational needs to learn at home
The lengthy suspension of school classes under the COVID-19 pandemic has upset the learning and training of children with special educational needs (SEN). To support SEN children to maintain learning progress, the venture will launch COPA-Kids, a set of home-based training games, for SEN children to learn and play at home with their parents.
COPA-Kids is developed with the objective to improve the cognitive and behavioural aspects of preschool SEN children from 3 to 6 years old. It comprises card games, demonstration videos, songs, online resources and consultative sessions. All the multimedia elements will be integrated into a storyline to make the games more attractive to the SEN children.
Four card games will be designed to stimulate the brain development and train the sustained attention, working memories, visual attention, and hand-eye coordination of the SEN children. The materials will be prepared in Cantonese to better serve the learning needs of local SEN children.
The venture has received funding support from the SIE Fund for another prototype project.
