Pairing up golden-agers with youngsters with special education needs to partner in providing procurement and delivery service for elderly households
The steep pavements in Tin Wan Estate are causing difficulties for the elderly in travelling around and going out to buy daily commodities. The project pairs up golden-agers who have rich life experience with young people with special education needs (SEN) to form teams to provide procurement and delivery service to single elderly households and families of elderly doubletons in the district.
Besides, the paired teams will provide caring service to the elderly through visits to promote cross-generational cohesion. Through the partnership, SEN youths can learn from the golden-agers and build up their confidence and experience, whereas the golden-agers can share their knowledge with the youngsters and contribute to the community.
Training will be provided to the golden-agers who would understand more about the SEN youths and learn how to lead them to accomplish a task. SEN youths will receive training on working attitude and how to communicate with the elderly.
