Training programmes for children from low-income families in application of technologies to equip them to be "makers"

In view of a widening achievement gap between children from well-off and worse-off families, the project aims to enhance the technology literacy of children from low-income families. It will establish a platform which provides coaching, workshops, tools and equipment, materials and e-shopping channels at an affordable cost for children aged between 8 and 15 from low-income families. By participating in the workshops, the children will be incited to learn innovation and enjoy becoming a "maker" by engaging in 3D printing and modelling technologies they have little acquaintance elsewhere. By introducing systemic innovation and creative problem-solving skills to the children, the project enables them to ideate, prototype, test and materialise their innovations to solve real-life problems.

The venture has received funding support from the SIE Fund for another start-up project.
