Developing a disease management system to facilitate early diagnosis of Knee Osteoarthritis and patients’ self-management
The venture will develop a disease management system with Artificial Intelligence to facilitate early diagnosis of Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) in the community and empower the public for disease self-management. It aims to reduce treatment costs, improve treatment outcomes and establish a cohesive interplay between primary and secondary healthcare.
The system comprises two components, a community-based KOA prognostic system to facilitate early detection of KOA and a KOA patient self-management mobile application to enable KOA patients to record and monitor their treatment progress. Early detected patients with mild symptoms will be taken care of by a personalised therapeutic plan in support of their self-managed rehabilitation process.
