Experiential learning course comprising VR videos, professionals’ sharing and talks to enhance caregivers’ understanding of elderly's needs
The venture aims to enhance healthcare workers' understanding towards the needs of elderly through an experiential learning course which makes use of virtual reality (VR) videos together with sharing and talks given by professionals such as nurses, therapists and social workers. Three thematic VR videos, focusing on ageing, dementia and caregiving, will be produced to demonstrate the challenges faced by the elderly. The course will also make reference to cases and experience of elderly care in Japan to enrich participants with overseas caring culture.
Through augmenting participants' empathy for the elderly, it is hoped that more people will be motivated to work in the elderly care service industry and that the service quality of caregivers will be enhanced.
