Persistence and courage should be among the most impressive attributes one uses to describe Dr Jane Lee, Director of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council (September 2011 to May 2022). Once she had graduated and returned to Hong Kong from overseas study more than 20 years ago, she intended to devote herself to academic research in university. Coincidentally, she founded the first non-government think tank several years later, organised Social Enterprise Summit (SES), became head of a large social services organisation while setting up social enterprises like Good Kitchen. The above experiences with the non-government think tank and SES were attained entirely through her vision and passion for serving the community, with hardly any previous examples to follow.
Having served the community for more than 20 years, Dr Lee concludes that cross-sector collaboration is essential for our society's further development. The spirits of social innovation play an important role for social ventures to respond to social needs and to keep pace with the ever-changing needs of the society.
Dr Lee took office as Chairperson of the SIE Fund Task Force on 1 July 2018.
