Personal Profile
Ms Jessie Yu Sau-chu holds a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) degree and a Diploma for Social Service Management and Social Work and was awarded Honorary Fellowship by Lingnan University in 2020.
In 1991, Ms Yu founded the Hong Kong Single Parent Association (HKSPA) to advocate policies related to single parents and families, such as promoting the establishment of an alimony council, in the hope of improving the social environment faced by single parents, helping them to build self-esteem, self-respect and self-reliance, and enhancing the acceptance of single parents and single-parent families in the community. She is currently a member of the Commission on Poverty, a member of the Election Committee (Social Welfare), a member of the Social Welfare Department (Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung) Residential Special Child Care Centre Service Quality Group, a member of the District Fight Crime Committee (Kowloon City District). She has also served as a member of the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund Committee, the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Ping Wo Fund Advisory Committee, the Social Welfare Advisory Committee and the Social Workers Registration Board.
Ms Yu also holds public offices such as Chairperson of the Hong Kong Association of Senior Citizens Limited, Vice President of the Federation of Hong Kong Zhuhai Community, Executive Committee member of the Guangzhou Women's Federation and Executive Committee member of All-China Women’s Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association Limited.
