SIE Fund launches “Smart Silver” Digital Inclusion Programme for Elders
The SIE Fund has introduced the “Smart Silver” Digital Inclusion Programme for Elders which provides regular and fixed-point digital training courses and technical support to help elderly people integrate into the digital era and enjoy the benefits of digital technologies. A launching ceremony was held on 13 December at Lok Fu Place to mark the commencement of the Programme. Officiating at the ceremony were the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong; the Commissioner for Digital Policy, Mr Tony Wong; and the Chairperson of the SIE Fund Task Force, Mr Kevin Orr. Actress Alice Fung was also invited to share with fellow senior citizens her experience of using digital technologies. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, 75 elderly volunteers were also invited to the event to share the joy.
The prize presentation ceremony of the Elderly IT Stars Recognition Scheme was also held on the same day to recognise 13 "Elderly IT Stars" who have demonstrated their commitment to using digital technologies to improve their quality of life. During the two-day Fun Day held on 13 and 14 December, game booths and information panels were set up at the venue to let the public learn more about the Government's digital inclusion initiatives for elders.
