Enhancing the capability of grassroots women and NGOs in food production through providing a co-cooking space and related support
Riding on the success of its start-up project “HOPEmade Sharing Kitchen” which was funded by the SIE Fund in 2016, Community Development Enhancement Fund Limited rolls out this scale-up project to set up a co-cooking workspace of 6,000 square feet in Tsuen Wan. It targets to recruit and train grassroots women for food production. More home chefs will be nurtured and they can use their cooking talent to earn extra income through large-scale food production.
The venture will further train some of the home chefs as “star chefs” who will be able to build their own brand and eventually start their own business with experience gained from the project.
The venture will also rent the co-cooking workspace and food production training sessions to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in order to build their capacity in food production and thus benefit a wider population of the low-income group.
Income will be generated from selling food products produced by the home chefs through online channels and collaborated restaurants, and from rental fees for the co-cooking workspace paid by the NGOs.
The venture has received funding support from the SIE Fund for another scale-up project.
