Winners of SI CEO Competition unveiled
Winners of the SI CEO Competition for Tertiary Students were decided in the final pitching held on 22 April amid applause, professional assessments and inspiring comments from the judges and audience. The champion goes to ElderTreks which also wins the “Most Social Innovative Award” and the “Most Liked Award (Live Voting)”. The team, comprising four students from City University of Hong Kong, proposes to organise community tours and hire elderly as tour guides with an aim both to enhance social engagement of elderly and to facilitate inter-generation engagement. The top three winners are awarded a start-up fund of HK$150,000, HK$100,000, and HK$50,000 respectively and will continue receiving CEO mentorship, with each member also winning a social innovation trip to UK or Singapore and corporate internship opportunity. In his welcome speech for the final pitching and award presentation ceremony, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, commended the Competition for demonstrating not only successful cross-sector collaborations but also a new way for parties from different professions to create social value. He also looked forward to the early implementation of the students’ business plans to benefit people in need.
